Restorsea Rejuvenation Day Lotion
The first time I heard of RestorSea was when A-list celebrity Gwyneth Paltrow posted a couple of photographs on her Instagram account.
Granted it was an advertorial post, but if you follow Ms. Paltrow’s GOOP as I do, you will know she is very selective in the products she chooses to endorse.
And a little research showed that not only Gwyneth collaborated with the high-end skincare brand for her lifestyle blog, but she signed on as their brand ambassador. So it was with pure delight when I was gifted a full size Restorsea Rejuvenation Day Lotion SPF 30 to try and do a review. This was generous considering the $150 price tag attached to this facial lotion. But as you will soon see, the cost can be easily justified when in comparison to the lofty bill you get from other high-end brands that contain synthetics and toxic chemicals.
Here are my findings: (1) Restorsea has an exclusive global rights to a very special enzyme called Aquabeautine XL, which is “naturally released by salmon into the water at birth enabling them to safely emerge from their eggshells.”
There is an interesting story behind this. While on a hike in Norway, Restorea’s founder Patti Pao noticed the hands of the salmon hatchery workers were much younger than their faces. Instinctively she pursued finding out what was in the water that was causing this. Her study resulted in realizing the constant exposure to the Aquabeautine XL enzyme was the reason for the worker’s youthful hands. It must be noted, however, that Aquabeautine XL is secured from filtration methods of the post-hatching waters. None of the fish is harmed unlike other methods of extracting fish oil (Omega-3). (2) The entire brand is gluten-free, sulfate-free, and has a light fragrance made with natural allergen-free white tea. It is also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. It does not have any parabens, silicone, PEGs, Phthaltes, or Mineral Oil. They are dermatologist-tested and clinically-tested. And they are not tested on animals. (3) The Rejuvenating Day Lotion with SPF 30 Broadspecturm UVA/UVB can also be used for the body. But I primarily reserved it for my face. The texture of the cream is very light but not greasy. It takes about one to two pumps to cover your whole face. And it can be used as a base for makeup. After two weeks of use, I noticed my freckles lightly fade and my skin looks brighter. Although I do love this product and appreciate all the natural ingredients, I am wary on the cost.
This 1.7 ounce bottle will probably last for about two months of daily use. That’s about a $75/month of facial regimen expense. The results are astounding, but the caveat is discontinuing the use would result in the return of my previous facial texture in about ten days. Such is the price of a youthful complexion!
Therefore, I will indulge in my sample, but beg off the routine maintenance. I may be using a Gwyneth Paltrow fave, but unfortunately she has the means to indulge in luxurious skincare pampering, whereas I do not.
