Cara started working at the age of sixteen as a fashion, print, and television commercial model.
She won a national Ford Models competition called Supermodel of the Philippines. And three years later she coveted the Miss Philippines title (Binibining Pilipinas - World) and placed in the Top 10 at the Miss World pageant.
She has been represented by Ford Models NYC/Grimme San Francisco, STARS of San Francisco, CalCarries Hong Kong, Elite Hong Kong, and the Professional Models’ Association of the Philippines (PMAP).
Cara finished her undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley and flew back to the Philippines. She pursued television work while continuing to model in television commercials and fashion shows.
She became a sports courtside reporter, an entertainment show presenter, a news anchor, producer, reporter, and TV host to various special events. She has been represented by ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation and Genesis Manila.
After settling down to have a family, Cara took a break from work and cared for her daughter until her kid's toddler years.
A few years later Cara would return to broadcast journalism by anchoring the program 'Balitang Amerika,' the first Filipino-American nationwide news broadcast of the The Filipino Channel (TFC), an international arm of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation.
While performing her once-a-week anchoring duties in Balitang Amerika, Cara also pursued another career path in the private sector in the area of quality systems and technical communications.
Cara maintained this career until today. She is PMP® and MPM® Project Management certified, and Six Sigma Greenbelt® certified. She currently holds a corporate role in a medical technology company.
Eventually, Cara would end her moonlighting run as Balitang Amerika's anchor for eight years when the show converted into a daily news broadcast. Once in awhile Cara is tapped to host television shows and special events, and model in television commercials.
In her spare time, Cara pens Stylish+Geek, a lifestyle blog that essentially describes her persona.
Stylish+Geek had its initial roots with two blogs called 'CaraOnSugar' and 'Sensible Stylist'. She decided to merge both after participating in the Fashion and Beauty Bloggers event by Lucky Magazine, a former CondeNast publication.
Stylish+Geek has grown to be a digital media platform, utilizing social channels Instagram and YouTube.
While majority of its content are organically created from the writer's lifestyle experience, it has also began to work with influencer and blogging communities, advertising agencies, & consumer-brand companies to create a customized sponsored content that showcases the product while still depicting the unbiased opinion and personal experience of the writer.
